How each scheduler handles Threads and Bluesky
Distinctful
Best for entrepreneurs who want Threads and Bluesky planned from the same strategy as the rest of their marketing. Distinctful is a social media scheduler for entrepreneurs. It plans and drafts each week from your own business (your offers, your voice, and what already worked) and keeps strategy, posts, and results together.
On Threads, Distinctful schedules and publishes posts up to 500 characters and multi-post threads, with up to 10 images or one video per post, through the official Threads API. On Bluesky, it publishes posts with up to four images or one video, connected with an app password you create in Bluesky, and a counter keeps each post inside Bluesky's 300 characters. Both networks sit on one calendar with X, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube (in beta).

If you already work in ChatGPT or Claude, an assistant connected through the Distinctful MCP server can draft posts, plan their dates and platforms, and schedule them when you ask.
The limits: Distinctful publishes single Bluesky posts today, not Bluesky threads, and there is no free plan. Grow is $49 a month or $39 a month billed yearly with 12 social accounts, and every plan starts with a 7-day free trial (pricing).
Buffer
Best for a low-cost queue priced per channel. Buffer's supported channels table lists publishing for both Threads and Bluesky, and notes that both are only available on its newer plans. Its pricing page lists a Free plan for up to 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel, and Essentials from $6 per channel a month ($5 billed yearly).
Buffer's developer documentation describes threaded posts on Bluesky, Threads, Mastodon, and X, published in order with each post replying to the one before it. The thread documentation this review confirmed is for Buffer's API, so try a thread in the composer during your trial. Cost also grows with every channel you add.
Metricool
Best for publishing one long thread to several networks at once, with reports beside the calendar. Metricool's thread guide documents threads of up to 80 posts on X, Threads, and Bluesky, for one platform or several at once, and splits pasted text by each network's character limit. Its Bluesky connection guide says Bluesky is available on all plans.
The pricing page lists a Free plan with 1 brand and 20 posts a month (LinkedIn and X excluded), and Starter at $25 a month, or $20 a month billed yearly. The limitation: Metricool only connects Bluesky accounts on Bluesky's standard server (.bsky.social handles). Custom domain handles and accounts hosted elsewhere cannot connect at the moment.
Publer
Best for schedules built around threads. Publer's thread composer schedules threads across X, Threads, Mastodon, and Bluesky, with up to 25 follow-up posts that can each carry text, images, or videos. It can split long text into a thread automatically and add time delays between posts. Its Bluesky page covers Bluesky posts, threads, and videos.
Publer's plans include a Free plan with 3 social accounts and 10 scheduled posts per account, and price paid plans by the number of accounts you select. The limitation: the free plan cannot connect X, so a routine that spans X, Threads, and Bluesky needs a paid plan.
Hootsuite
Best for teams that answer messages and monitor their brand alongside publishing. Hootsuite's Bluesky help article walks through connecting with your Bluesky handle, signing in, and approving permissions. Its thread guide supports scheduling Threads threads on the web app (the mobile app cannot create them), with a 500-character limit per post.
Hootsuite's plans page lists Standard for up to 10 social accounts, priced per user, with a free 14-day trial. Per-user pricing is built for teams, and this review did not confirm Bluesky thread support.
Typefully
Best for writers whose week is mostly text posts. Typefully's scheduling guide lists X, LinkedIn, Threads, Mastodon, Bluesky, and Substack, and separates scheduled posts, which publish automatically, from planned posts, which wait on the calendar. Its pricing page lists a Free plan with 10 posts a month, one social set, and one user. The pages read for this review did not confirm multi-post threads on Threads or Bluesky, so test one before committing.
Fedica
Best for Bluesky alongside other open networks. Fedica's Bluesky scheduler page says it schedules and crossposts Bluesky posts and threads free of charge, next to Mastodon, Pixelfed, Threads, LinkedIn, Instagram, and X. Threads are numbered automatically and can publish all at once or spread over time. Fedica says it was the first social media management tool to add Bluesky support, in mid-2023. Its plans page did not load during this review, so confirm paid limits and Threads thread support yourself.
Postiz
Best for posting driven by AI agents, scripts, or an API across many channels. Postiz's homepage lists Threads and Bluesky among 30+ channels, and its pricing page starts at $29 a month for 5 channels with unlimited posts, with a 7-day free trial. Every plan includes its MCP server, CLI, and API. There is no free plan, and this review did not confirm multi-post thread support on either network.
Does Buffer support Bluesky?
Yes. Buffer's supported channels table lists Bluesky publishing next to Threads, Mastodon, LinkedIn, and X. Bluesky and Threads connect only on Buffer's newer plans, so if you signed up years ago, check your plan first. If Buffer is your other finalist, the Distinctful and Buffer comparison lays out the differences.
Can you schedule multi-post threads on Threads?
Yes, in several schedulers. Distinctful schedules and publishes multi-post Threads threads, Metricool documents threads of up to 80 posts, Publer allows up to 25 follow-up posts, and Hootsuite builds Threads threads on its web app.
Bluesky threads are a separate check. Metricool, Publer, and Fedica document them. Distinctful publishes single Bluesky posts, and its free Bluesky thread maker splits a long draft into posts you can share by hand. "Thread" also names the network itself, so write down both requirements when you compare tools.
Why does Bluesky ask for an app password?
An app password lets a scheduler post for you without ever seeing your main Bluesky password. With Distinctful, you create one in Bluesky's settings, then connect with your handle and that app password. It is not your account password, and you can revoke it in Bluesky at any time.
Connection methods differ by tool. Hootsuite's help article describes a sign-in and permissions screen, and Metricool connects only .bsky.social handles. If your handle is a custom domain, confirm it connects before you pay.
Can you post the same text to Threads and Bluesky?
Only when the post fits in 300 characters. Threads allows 500 characters per post and Bluesky allows 300, so anything longer has to be cut or split for Bluesky. The two networks also count differently: Bluesky counts an emoji or accented letter as one character, while Threads counts links at their full length and counts each emoji as two characters.
A simple habit is to write the Bluesky version first, then expand it for Threads if the idea needs room. The free Bluesky character counter and Threads character counter show where a draft lands, and the Threads thread maker breaks a long draft at paragraphs and sentences.
Is there a free scheduler for both?
Yes, with small allowances. Buffer Free covers 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts each, Publer Free covers 3 accounts other than X with 10 scheduled posts each, Metricool Free allows 20 posts a month for one brand, and Typefully Free allows 10 posts a month. Fedica describes its Bluesky scheduler as free.
Distinctful has no free plan. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, which is long enough to schedule a real week on both networks.
How to decide this week
Pick two finalists from the table and give each the same test:
- Write one post longer than 300 characters and see how each tool handles the Bluesky version.
- Schedule one multi-post thread on Threads, and on Bluesky if you need it.
- Connect your real Bluesky handle, especially if it uses a custom domain.
- Price your full account list on the same billing term.
If Instagram, LinkedIn, and X matter as much as Threads, the guide to schedulers for Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and Threads covers that wider setup. Then keep the tool that handles your ordinary week with the fewest manual steps.
Questions
Which social media schedulers support both Threads and Bluesky?
Buffer, Metricool, Publer, Hootsuite, Typefully, Fedica, Postiz, and Distinctful each document publishing to both Threads and Bluesky on their official pages. Metricool and Publer also document multi-post threads on both networks. Distinctful publishes Threads posts and multi-post threads with up to 10 images or one video, and single Bluesky posts with up to four images or one video, on one calendar with X and LinkedIn.
Does Buffer support Bluesky?
Yes. Buffer's supported channels table lists publishing for both Bluesky and Threads, and both are available only on its newer plans, so a legacy plan needs an upgrade. Buffer's Free plan connects up to 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel.
Can you schedule multi-post threads on Threads?
Yes. Metricool documents threads of up to 80 posts, Publer documents up to 25 follow-up posts, Hootsuite supports Threads threads on its web app, and Distinctful schedules and publishes multi-post Threads threads. Check media limits per post before relying on a format.
Why does Bluesky ask for an app password?
An app password lets a scheduler post for you without your main Bluesky password. Distinctful connects Bluesky with an app password you create in Bluesky's settings, and you can revoke it there at any time. Other tools connect differently, so check whether your handle type is supported before you buy.
Is there a free scheduler for both Threads and Bluesky?
Yes, with small allowances. Buffer Free covers 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts each, Publer Free covers 3 accounts other than X, Metricool Free allows 20 posts a month, and Typefully Free allows 10 posts a month. Distinctful has no free plan; every plan starts with a 7-day free trial.
One draft, every platform.
Distinctful turns one idea into native posts for X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Threads, and Bluesky, so publishing everywhere stops being a second job.
