Best Schedulers for Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and Threads
Choose a scheduler for Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and Threads by account type, post format, publishing method, and total cost. Compare five options for solo work.
For a solo creator scheduling Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and Threads, start with Buffer for a straightforward queue, Metricool for publishing alongside reporting, SocialBee for category-based planning, or Publer for account-based scheduling. The fifth option below combines social publishing with a broader business-content workflow; choose among them by the formats you actually publish and the manual work each leaves you.
This guide compares documented capabilities checked on October 10, 2026. The recommendations are editorial judgments, not results from testing all five products side by side. A network logo is the beginning of the check, not evidence that every feature in its native app is available.
Which schedulers cover all four required networks?
Buffer, Metricool, SocialBee, and Publer each list Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and Threads in their official documentation. See Buffer's supported channels, Metricool's connection overview, SocialBee's account matrix, and Publer's supported networks.
Coverage becomes useful when you specify the account behind each logo. Write down whether your Instagram account is personal, business, or creator, and whether you publish on a LinkedIn profile, a company page, or both. Then list the formats you need on X and Threads.
Use this as your shortlist worksheet:
| Requirement | Record before comparing tools |
|---|---|
| Account type; image, carousel, Reel, or Story; any native finishing steps | |
| Personal profile or company page; text, image, video, or document | |
| X | Single posts or linked sequences; text and media requirements |
| Threads | Single posts or linked sequences; images, video, and reply controls |
| Working routine | Fully automatic publication or time available to finish a reminder |
If you already turn longer writing into social posts, our repurposing guide can help you identify the versions you need. You can use the same exercise with an article, a customer question, or an original social draft; a newsletter is optional.
How do the five scheduling options compare for solo work?
1. Buffer: start here for a channel-based queue
Buffer's pricing and feature table documents a queue, visual calendar, drafts, and threaded posts. Its channel-based model makes it a sensible first candidate when the job is simply preparing posts for several accounts and choosing when they go out.
Test a normal publishing week. Can you find the next post for each account, change its time, and review its final version without losing track of the other versions? Pay special attention to Instagram's publishing method, covered below.
2. Metricool: consider it when reporting belongs beside planning
Metricool's getting-started guide separates Planning, Analytics, and Reporting into areas of the same product. That makes it worth evaluating when you want to review account performance as part of deciding what to schedule next.
Start with a question you want the reports to answer. For example: which recent posts received a response worth following up on? Check that the report contains the relevant network and metric instead of choosing by the number of charts in a demo.
3. SocialBee: consider it for recurring content categories
SocialBee describes content categories as a way to organize posts and schedule them across the week. This is a useful direction if you want a visible balance between educational posts, examples, and invitations to work with you.
Try a small set of categories based on the work you already publish. A category system should help you choose the next useful post. If maintaining labels takes more attention than reviewing drafts, simplify the system before buying more features.
4. Publer: consider it for scheduling with follow-up posts
Publer's Professional plan lists scheduling, drafts, first comments, threads, and X integration. Its follow-up documentation explains that follow-ups on X and Threads become additional posts in a sequence.
That makes linked-post workflows a useful trial task. Prepare a short sequence with the media you normally use, then inspect the order and timing. Do not assume that a feature called “comments” behaves identically on every network.
5. Distinctful: consider it for the business work around publishing
This platform plans and publishes to Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and Threads, as well as Bluesky, within a broader workflow for marketing a business through content. Check the integration pages for connection requirements and supported uses; coverage does not imply support for every native format. The Grow plan is $49 per month on monthly billing and includes up to 12 social accounts, enough for one account on each of these four networks.
Choose this direction when your decision includes ideas, drafts, and commercial commitments alongside the publication schedule. You can start with social content alone. Newsletter connections are optional, and the platform does not send newsletters.
Which account types and post formats does each tool document?
Use the detailed account and format pages before connecting your real calendar. Here are several differences worth checking:
- Buffer: its Instagram publishing guide distinguishes automatic and notification publishing. Instagram personal profiles require notifications rather than automatic publication.
- Metricool: its format matrix explicitly lists Instagram carousels, Reels and Stories, linked sequences on X and Threads, and LinkedIn documents. Check the detailed guide for the particular format and account you use.
- SocialBee: its account matrix distinguishes Instagram professional accounts from personal profiles, lists LinkedIn personal profiles and company pages, and documents direct Threads publishing. Personal Instagram profiles use reminders.
- Publer: its connection guides document Instagram creator and business connections. Its network list separately identifies LinkedIn personal profiles and business pages.
- The fifth option: use the integration directory linked above to check your account, then try your actual media in the composer before moving recurring work into it.
Be precise about the word “thread.” It can mean the Threads network or a sequence of connected posts. Record both requirements separately if you publish a multi-part explanation.
Do the same for “carousel.” An Instagram image carousel and a LinkedIn document are different publishing tasks. A generic carousel checkbox should not be your only evidence that the tool handles both.
When does publishing happen automatically or require a notification?
With automatic publishing, the scheduler submits a supported post at the selected time. With notification publishing, you receive a reminder and complete publication yourself. Buffer documents this distinction in its notification workflow.
A reminder can be a good fit when you deliberately want to finish a post in the native app. It is a poor fit for a deadline when nobody will be available. Metricool's format guide likewise advises manually finishing features unavailable through a network's API.
For each recurring post type, record:
- Can this exact post publish automatically?
- If not, what remains to do on the phone?
- Who will receive the reminder and finish it?
- Where will you check the live post afterward?
Treat approval of a draft, placement on a calendar, and confirmed publication as separate checkpoints. In a trial, complete the full path through a live post you are comfortable sharing. A successful account connection alone does not test publication.
What does one account on each network cost?
Compare four connected accounts for one person using the same billing term. Keep tax, optional upgrades, and annual commitments separate from the subscription figure.
| Option | Documented cost or quoting requirement |
|---|---|
| Buffer Essentials | $24 per month on monthly billing for four channels, calculated as four times $6. Annual billing is $240 per year, equivalent to $20 per month. |
| SocialBee Bootstrap | $29 per month on monthly billing, or $290 per year. Its five-profile allowance covers this four-account setup. |
| Metricool | A paid plan is needed for LinkedIn, and X requires an add-on. Confirm the selected plan, billing term, and X charge together before comparing the total. |
| Publer Professional | Select four accounts in the pricing calculator. X is included in the paid plan; the retrieved page did not expose a reliable configured four-account price. |
| The fifth option | The Grow plan described above covers the four accounts within its allowance at $49 per month on monthly billing. |
Buffer's arithmetic uses its published monthly rate and annual pricing. SocialBee's figures come from its plan table. The qualifications for the other quotes come from Metricool pricing and Publer pricing. Exact totals for those two configurations were not verified in this review.
The reviewed free plans are not a complete solution for these four networks: Buffer allows three channels, Metricool excludes LinkedIn and X, and Publer excludes X. Use a trial to evaluate the full setup rather than judging it from a free plan with a required connection missing.
Which option fits a solo creator's actual publishing formats?
Choose two finalists and give each the same small test. Use content you would genuinely publish, not a generic demo post that avoids your difficult format.
Prepare an Instagram asset, a LinkedIn post in your usual format, an X post or sequence, and a Threads post or sequence. Record the time spent preparing them, any manual finishing steps, the subscription quote, and whether each published result matched your intention. These are proposed evaluation steps, not claims about measured product performance.
Then choose by the recurring work:
- For a straightforward multi-account queue, begin with Buffer.
- For planning beside account reports, inspect Metricool.
- For a schedule organized around recurring categories, inspect SocialBee.
- For scheduling with follow-up sequences, inspect Publer.
- For a broader business-content workflow, evaluate the fifth option against the same publishing test.
If growing an email audience is also a current business goal, our newsletter-focused scheduler comparison covers that separate decision. Otherwise, keep the choice grounded in social work you already need to finish.
Pick the tool that handles your ordinary week at an acceptable total cost. Keep any native-app steps visible in the calendar, and verify the first scheduled posts before moving the rest of your work.
Questions
Which scheduler works with Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and Threads?
The five options in this guide document publishing coverage for all four networks. Choose by your exact account types and recurring post formats, because network coverage alone does not establish that every post can publish automatically.
Can I schedule all four social networks for free?
The reviewed Buffer, Metricool, and Publer free plans do not cover this complete four-network setup. Buffer limits the number of channels, while Metricool and Publer exclude required networks from their free plans.
What is notification publishing?
Notification publishing sends a reminder so you can finish and publish a prepared post yourself. It is different from automatic publishing, where the tool submits a supported post without that manual finishing step.
Does support for Threads include multi-post threads?
A Threads account connection and a sequence of linked posts are separate capabilities. Check the scheduler's documentation for multi-post sequences, media combinations, and any plan restrictions before relying on that format.
One draft, every platform.
Distinctful turns one idea into native posts for Twitter (X), LinkedIn, Threads, and Bluesky, so publishing everywhere stops being a second job.
