Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 4, 2026
Distinctful LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We've written this in plain language because we believe privacy policies should be readable.
What we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and any name or profile information you provide. This is used to authenticate you, personalize your experience, and contact you about your account.
Content you create
Distinctful stores the content you create inside the platform — ideas, posts, content calendars, offers, and any other data you input. This data belongs to you. We store it on your behalf to deliver the service.
Connected platform data
When you connect a social platform (such as Threads), you authorize Distinctful to act on your behalf via OAuth. We store the access token and your platform user ID to enable publishing. We access only the permissions you explicitly grant — such as the ability to create and publish posts. We never post to your account without your direct action. You can revoke access at any time from your Distinctful settings or directly through the platform's own settings.
Analytics
We use PostHog to understand how people use our website and application. This includes page views, general interaction patterns, and basic device information (browser type, screen size). We use this data to improve the experience, not to build advertising profiles.
Standard web data
Like every website, our servers automatically receive your IP address, browser type, and referring page when you visit. This is standard infrastructure, not surveillance.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
We don't share your email with third parties for marketing purposes.
We don't use tracking pixels from ad networks.
We don't build profiles to serve you targeted advertising.
We don't post to your connected accounts without your explicit action.
How we use your data
To deliver the service. Your account data, content, and connected platform tokens are used solely to operate Distinctful and provide the features you use.
To communicate with you. We may email you about your account, billing, service changes, or important updates. You can opt out of non-essential communications at any time.
To improve the product. Analytics data helps us understand what works and what doesn't so we can build a better tool for creators.
Third-party services we use
Supabase — Authentication and database infrastructure (SOC 2 Type II compliant).
Vercel — Hosting and edge delivery.
PostHog — Product analytics. Data is collected anonymously where possible.
Meta (Threads API) — When you connect your Threads account, we interact with Meta's API on your behalf. Your use of Threads is also subject to Meta's Privacy Policy.
Cookies
We use functional cookies for analytics (PostHog) and authentication (Supabase) to keep you logged in. We don't use advertising cookies or tracking pixels from ad networks.
Data security
All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS). Access tokens for connected platforms are encrypted at rest. Our infrastructure runs on Supabase, which is SOC 2 Type II certified. We limit access to your data to only what is necessary to provide the service. No security system is perfect, but we take your data seriously.
Your rights
Delete your account and data. You can delete your account from settings. On deletion, your content and personal data are permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.
Access your data. You can request a copy of the data we hold about you by emailing us.
Disconnect connected platforms. You can disconnect any social platform (such as Threads) from your Distinctful settings at any time. This immediately revokes our ability to post on your behalf and we delete your stored access token.
Opt out of analytics. Most browsers support Do Not Track. We respect it.
Data retention
Account and content data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your data is permanently removed within 30 days.
Access tokens for connected platforms are deleted immediately when you disconnect the platform or delete your account.
Analytics data is retained according to PostHog's standard retention policies.
Children's privacy
Distinctful is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes, we'll update this page and the date above. For material changes that affect how we handle your data, we'll notify you by email.
