A note on accessibility: styled unicode is read poorly by screen readers, often letter by letter or not at all. Use it for a word or two of emphasis, not whole posts.

How bold text works on Threads
Threads posts are plain text with no bold or italic in the composer. Styled Unicode letters display as bold or italic in the app, and they count toward the 500 character limit like any other character.
Frequently asked questions
Can you bold text on Threads?
Not with the composer. Styled Unicode letters from this tool display as bold or italic when pasted into a Threads post.
Will styled text hurt accessibility?
It can. Screen readers often read styled letters one by one or skip them. Use them for a word or two of emphasis and keep the rest of the post plain.
How do I undo the formatting?
Select the styled text and choose Undo formatting. The tool turns styled letters back into plain ones.
