Social Media MCP Servers Compared: What Claude Can Actually Do With Each
Compare official social media MCP servers by research, drafts, scheduling, account access and approval behavior, using current vendor docs rather than demos.
Distinctful, Typefully, Buffer, Pallyy, Postiz, and Eden all document official MCP connections, but they expose different combinations of research, drafting, scheduling, and account data. Choose by the exact workflow Claude must complete and the permissions that allow it, not by whether a vendor displays an MCP badge.
This comparison checks primary documentation as of October 25, 2026. It is not an authenticated hands-on benchmark, and we did not publish test social content. We make Distinctful, which is included with the same distinction between documented capabilities and unverified behavior as the alternatives.
What does each official MCP server let Claude do?
The table separates public research from reading your own posts. “Not established” means the reviewed source does not document that capability; it does not prove that the vendor could never support it.
| Service | Public-post and creator research | Draft and publishing work | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Distinctful | Discover posts, creator baselines, outlier comparisons | Create drafts, date plans, schedule, publish now | Planning and scheduling are separate actions |
| Typefully | Public-outlier workflow not established | Create, edit and schedule drafts; read queue and published posts | Official OAuth MCP; not every main-app feature is proven through MCP |
| Buffer | Owned-post analytics; public-outlier workflow not established | Draft, schedule, edit, publish immediately, delete | Access spans the user's organizations and channels |
| Pallyy | No analytics or public-outlier tool in reviewed inventory | Drafts, schedules, media and calendar notes | Scheduling needs a separate publishing permission |
| Postiz | Public-outlier workflow not established | Draft and publishing tools | Directory connector and custom MCP URL have different capabilities |
| Eden | Indexed posts, creator outliers and own-account analytics | Save and schedule; named weekly workflow saves drafts | Research uses credits; weekly workflow requires Starter or higher |

This is a deliberately limited comparison of official connections. A community server or automation bridge may expose additional actions, but it introduces another implementation and permission boundary. Do not infer its behavior from the vendor's official connector documentation.
Which tools connect research to original drafts?
Distinctful's tools let Claude read strategy, offers, ideas, calendar entries, post performance, and Discover material. Its creator_teardown prompt compares a creator's standout posts with typical ones; compare_outliers relates your available results to niche examples against each account's usual. These are prompts that sequence tools, not automatic proof of why content succeeded. Source: Distinctful reference.
Eden is a relevant alternative for this job. Its quick start documents indexed-post search, creator outliers and baselines, connected-account analytics, boards, saving, and scheduling. Social research consumes Eden credits. It should not be described as a research-only connector. Source: Eden MCP quick start.
Eden's separate Head of Content workflow, updated October 22, describes a weekly plan approval followed by writing up to seven posts and saving them as drafts. It requires Starter or higher. That documented workflow does not itself mean those drafts publish automatically. Source: Eden Head of Content.
For research, ask any candidate to return source links, the observed metric, baseline context, and a separate explanation of what it infers. Then request an original angle grounded in your evidence. A tool that supplies sources can improve the input; it does not make copying another creator's voice or results acceptable. Our outlier-to-idea walkthrough develops that distinction.
Which servers are focused on managing a publishing queue?
Typefully's official MCP help documents an OAuth connection and tools for drafts, editing, scheduling, threads, media, tags, connected accounts, and queue or published-post reads. It names X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, and Mastodon. Its broader pricing page may list additional application capabilities, but those should not be treated as verified MCP support. Source: Typefully MCP help.
Buffer's reference provides explicit post states and publishing errors, plus optional metrics in post reads. Its creation tool distinguishes saving a draft, scheduling, and immediate publication. That specificity is useful when asking Claude to explain what it actually did. Source: Buffer tool reference.
Pallyy organizes work around post sets, social sets, media, and calendar notes. Its reviewed tool inventory includes reading, creating and updating posts, but no post deletion or analytics tools. For Claude media workflows, public-URL import is documented; direct conversation-file upload is identified as ChatGPT-specific. Source: Pallyy tools.
Pick the queue-oriented option that matches your actual revision and verification needs. A reader who already knows what to write may care more about finding the saved version, moving a time, and identifying a failed post than about adding a public research catalog.
Why does Postiz need a separate connector check?
Postiz's official page distinguishes its Claude directory connector from connecting a custom MCP URL. The matrix lists publishing, scheduling, analytics and URL-based media upload for the directory route, while image and video generation and clipping appear under the custom route. Do not combine the two columns into one promise about every Claude connection. Source: Postiz MCP matrix.
Its introductory MCP reference documents a schedulePostTool that can create a draft or submit publication work. That introductory inventory and the broader marketing matrix have different scopes. A documentation review can report both; only inspection of the actual connected tool inventory can establish what a particular session exposes. Source: Postiz MCP introduction.
This is a useful general test: record the connection route as well as the product name. “Connected to Postiz” is incomplete if the feature you want depends on how you connected. The same principle applies when vendors distinguish Claude from ChatGPT or an interactive app from a developer API.
What does approval mean for each service?
Four controls are easy to confuse. OAuth consent grants an application access. Client permission prompts decide whether an assistant may call a tool. Workflow instructions can require showing a plan first. Server permissions determine whether the requested action is allowed when it arrives. None of those words alone promises a fresh human review of every post.
| Service | What the reviewed evidence establishes |
|---|---|
| Distinctful | Draft creation acts directly; planning does not publish. Scheduling and immediate publication are available as separate tools. |
| Typefully | OAuth access approval is documented; the reviewed setup does not establish a mandatory server-side per-post confirmation. |
| Buffer | Documentation says most clients prompt for writes, while tools can publish immediately or irreversibly delete a post. |
| Pallyy | Draft edits require post-sets:write; scheduling also requires post-sets:publish. Access can be limited to selected social sets. |
| Postiz | Draft and publishing actions are documented; a universal per-post review barrier is not established by the introductory guide. |
| Eden | Its named weekly workflow waits for plan approval, then saves drafts. That recipe is not evidence of a universal MCP publishing gate. |

Pallyy's permission split is a concrete technical distinction: an editing grant does not by itself permit scheduling. Once publication permission is granted, however, do not reinterpret it as a promise that every scheduled item will trigger another approval screen.
For any provider, ask for a complete draft, exact account, time zone, and intended action before approval. If you want to retain the final manual action, request drafts only and schedule in the application. If you authorize scheduling through Claude, verify the returned record and later the public post.
What do plans and account scope change?
A free MCP connection is not an unlimited publishing plan. Typefully lists MCP on Free with ten posts per month. Buffer's Free plan permits three channels and ten queued posts per channel. Pallyy includes MCP on Free while retaining the plan's publishing limits. These limits measure different things, so compare your workload instead of the word “free.” Sources: Typefully pricing, Buffer pricing, and Pallyy MCP.
Distinctful includes MCP on Grow and higher; Grow is $49 monthly or $468 billed annually. Postiz's hosted pricing lists Standard at $29 monthly or $23 per month on annual billing, and describes MCP with its paid offering. Check current plans before committing. Sources: Distinctful pricing and Postiz pricing.
Scope matters independently of price. Buffer documents access across the user's account rather than per-organization restriction. Pallyy documents selectable social sets. For another service, inspect the actual consent screen and current documentation instead of assuming either model. A publishing team should resolve who can access which accounts before connecting an assistant.
How should you evaluate a server without posting test content?
Start read-only. Ask Claude to list the workspace, connected accounts, supported tools, existing drafts and relevant time-zone settings. Compare those answers with the application. Do not connect unrelated accounts merely to fill a comparison table.
Next use an unpublished draft you actually need. Request a preview before saving, inspect the saved result, and confirm that it remains a draft. If media is required, use the documented import path and verify the destination preview. A successful text draft does not establish support for every format.
Only schedule content when you intend it to publish and have approved its text, destination and time. Then verify the state in the scheduler and check the public result after the publishing time. Our Claude scheduling guide gives a complete worked sequence.
The best choice is the service whose documented tools and permissions match your job, and whose results you can inspect. There is no need to award one server an overall winner when research, writing, account scope and publication controls lead to different answers.
Questions
Which social media tools have official MCP servers?
Distinctful, Typefully, Buffer, Pallyy, Postiz and Eden document official MCP connections. Their tool coverage, account permissions and plan requirements differ, so a connector label alone does not establish the workflow you need.
Does an MCP connection always require approval before a post goes live?
No universal per-post approval guarantee follows from using MCP. OAuth consent, client tool prompts, workflow instructions and server permissions are different controls. Inspect the specific publishing tool and its permissions.
Can these MCP servers research other creators’ outlier posts?
Distinctful and Eden document public-post research and creator-baseline workflows. The Typefully, Buffer and Pallyy sources reviewed here do not establish equivalent public-outlier research tools; owned-account analytics is a different capability.
Does Claude support every feature advertised by a scheduler?
Not necessarily. MCP tool coverage can differ from the main application or from another AI client. For example, Pallyy distinguishes Claude-compatible URL media imports from ChatGPT-specific direct file uploads.
