Newsletter
An email publication sent to subscribers, usually on a recurring schedule, with news, ideas, advice, or updates.
A newsletter is a publication delivered to people who subscribe to receive it. In email marketing, it usually arrives in an inbox on a recurring schedule and serves a defined audience. It can contain original essays, curated links, practical lessons, company updates, or a mix of these. Newsletters can be free, paid, or supported by sponsorships.
For example, a gardening newsletter might send one seasonal planting guide every Sunday. Its promise tells readers what they will receive, who it is for, and how often it arrives. A useful first edition delivers that promise with a focused topic and a clear next step, such as trying a technique or replying with a question.
A newsletter is one format within email marketing. A receipt is a transactional email, while a welcome sequence starts when someone subscribes. A blog is published on a website; a newsletter is delivered to subscribers, although the same edition can also have a public web archive.
