Welcome sequence
A series of introductory emails sent after signup to help new subscribers understand a publication, topic, or product.
A welcome sequence, also called an onboarding email sequence, introduces subscribers over several messages. Each email has a distinct purpose: deliver a resource, teach a foundational idea, show an example, or explain where to go next. Timing is usually relative to signup.
A photography newsletter could send a getting-started guide immediately, a lighting exercise two days later, and a collection of reader questions later that week. A subscriber joining next month receives the same sequence from its beginning.
This differs from a scheduled newsletter edition that reaches current subscribers on a calendar date. Plan how the sequence overlaps with regular editions so a new reader does not unexpectedly receive several emails on the same day.
