Welcome email

The first introductory email a subscriber receives, usually explaining what to expect and how to get started.

A welcome email acknowledges a new subscription and delivers on the signup promise. It can introduce the writer, provide a requested resource, explain the schedule, and point to a useful starting article. A clear sender name helps the subscriber recognize future editions.

If someone subscribes for a budgeting worksheet, the welcome email should link to that worksheet before asking them to read a long introduction. A short note can then explain that the next newsletter arrives on Thursday.

A welcome email is different from a confirmation email. With double opt-in, the confirmation message asks the recipient to activate the subscription; the welcome email introduces the publication after that step. A welcome sequence extends the introduction across several messages.
