Lead magnet
A useful resource offered in exchange for contact details, often as part of a clearly explained newsletter signup.
A lead magnet is a resource such as a checklist, template, short course, or report that gives someone a reason to share their contact details. It works best when it addresses a problem the ongoing publication also helps solve, so the follow-up feels relevant.
A newsletter about writing proposals might offer an editable proposal checklist. The signup page should explain whether requesting the checklist also subscribes the reader to the newsletter, and the first email should make the promised resource easy to access.
A large download count does not necessarily mean a healthy newsletter audience. Review confirmed subscriptions and subsequent engagement to see whether the resource attracts readers who want the ongoing publication.
