Drip campaign

A sequence of emails delivered at planned intervals, usually beginning when someone joins a list or takes an action.

A drip campaign distributes a prepared series over time. It is often used for a short course, onboarding, or explaining a product. The schedule is commonly relative to a starting event, so each participant can move through the lessons at their own pace of enrollment.

A five-day writing course might send one exercise each morning after signup. Each message should make sense as part of the series and identify the next step. The last email can explain what, if anything, the subscriber will receive afterward.

A drip campaign is one kind of email automation. More complex automations may branch based on preferences or completed actions, while a basic drip campaign follows a fixed sequence. Avoid adding branches unless they improve a real reader need.
