Paid newsletter
A newsletter that charges subscribers for access to some or all of its content.
A paid newsletter uses subscription payments to fund a publication. It may offer all editions behind a paywall or combine free issues with paid analysis, resources, or community access. The offer should explain what payment includes and how often it is delivered.
A research writer might publish a free monthly overview and a paid weekly briefing. The difference needs to be understandable before someone subscribes, including whether archives or additional resources are included.
Paid subscriptions and sponsorships are different revenue models: in one, readers pay for access; in the other, an advertiser pays to reach readers. Subscriber count alone does not describe revenue, since plans, discounts, cancellations, and fees also matter.
