Social media analytics

The measurement and interpretation of social content, audience, and interaction data to understand performance.

Social media analytics turns platform reports into answers about publishing decisions. Common measures include reach, impressions, engagement, link clicks, and follower changes. Start with a question, such as which tutorials bring interested readers to a signup page.

Compare posts with similar formats and observation periods. A post published an hour ago has had less time to accumulate activity than one published last week. Record the denominator for rates and distinguish paid distribution from unpaid exposure.

Platform metrics describe observed activity within their tracking limits. They do not automatically prove sales attribution or explain why a post performed differently. Pair them with website or newsletter evidence where available, and treat missing data as unknown rather than zero.
