Follower count
The number of accounts following a social profile, which differs from the number that sees or interacts with each post.
Follower count is how many accounts have subscribed to your profile on a platform. It describes an accumulated audience relationship, not the performance of an individual post. A follower is permission for the platform to show your work, not a guarantee that it will.
The gap between followers and reach is the useful part. If 40,000 followers produce 2,000 views, the follower number is describing history rather than attention. Watching reach and list growth beside follower count tells you whether an audience is compounding or just accumulating.
