Shares
Actions that pass a social post to other people through reposts, messages, or other supported sharing methods.
A share distributes content beyond its original presentation. Depending on the platform and report, shares may include public reposts, private messages, or other sharing actions. Check which actions are included before comparing share counts across tools.
A reader might send a newsletter-writing tip to a colleague or repost it with their own commentary. One sharing action can lead to several additional views, but the share count itself is not a count of the people who saw the shared content.
Sharing does not necessarily mean endorsement: someone may share a post to question or criticize it. Interpret the surrounding discussion where available, and distinguish shares from saves, reach, and impressions when evaluating the result.
