What is Saves and shares?

Saves and shares are the engagement actions that carry a post beyond the people who already follow you. A like costs nothing and stays put. A save means a reader expects to want the post later, and a share means they were willing to attach their own name to it in front of their audience.

Both weigh heavily in most ranking systems for that reason, and both are better creative feedback than likes. A post with modest likes and unusual saves is usually reference material worth expanding into an edition; a post with unusual shares found language other people wanted to borrow.
