What is Hook?
The first line of a post, which decides whether the rest gets read. Feeds truncate, so the hook is most of the post.
A hook is the opening line of a post, the part visible before a reader has to tap "more" or keep scrolling. Because feeds truncate aggressively, the hook is doing most of the work: it is the only guaranteed impression the rest of the writing gets.
A working hook makes a specific promise or states a specific tension. Vague throat-clearing loses the reader before the argument starts, and an overclaimed hook wins the tap but loses the trust when the body does not deliver. The most reliable test is whether the first line would still make sense, and still be interesting, printed alone.
