Call to action (CTA)

A prompt that tells the reader what to do next, such as subscribe, read a guide, reply, or register.

A call to action connects content with an intended next step. It can be a text link, button, or sentence. Effective wording makes the action and destination clear so readers can decide whether it is relevant to them.

A newsletter introducing a worksheet might use Download the planning worksheet rather than Click here. A social lesson might end by inviting readers to share their own example when conversation is the purpose.

A CTA is not always a sales request, and a post does not need one merely to exist. Choose a next step that follows from the content. If an email contains several links, distinguish the primary action when evaluating performance.
