What is Cross-posting?
Publishing the same content to several platforms. Done verbatim it underperforms everywhere, because each platform rewards a different native shape.
Cross-posting is publishing one piece of content to several platforms at once. The appeal is obvious: one draft, four audiences, a fraction of the work. The failure is equally predictable, because a post written for a 280-character timeline reads as clipped on LinkedIn and a LinkedIn essay reads as bloated on Threads.
The version that works adapts shape while keeping the idea: the same argument, restructured for each platform’s reading pattern and length. That is the line between cross-posting and repurposing. Cross-posting moves the file; repurposing moves the idea and rebuilds the container.
