Search intent
The underlying purpose of a search, such as learning a definition, comparing options, or completing a task.
Search intent describes what someone hopes to accomplish with a query. What is a newsletter asks for an explanation; newsletter examples asks for samples; how to start a newsletter asks for a process. Closely related keywords can therefore need different kinds of content.
A glossary entry should answer the definition first, then explain an example and important distinctions. A step-by-step setup tutorial belongs in a guide that can link back to the definition when a beginner needs context.
Intent is an interpretation of a reader need, not a rigid label or a reason to manufacture a page for every phrase. When two queries need the same answer, a single complete page may serve both.
