Personalization

Adapting content or message details using information about the recipient, such as their preferences or previous interactions.

Personalization can be as simple as a first-name greeting or as useful as showing resources that match an explicitly selected interest. The best use helps the recipient understand or act on the message; inserting a name alone does not make content relevant.

A newsletter that asks subscribers whether they are beginners or experienced practitioners can recommend a different starting guide to each group. Missing or invalid profile data should produce a sensible default rather than a broken greeting.

Personalization depends on accurate, appropriate data. Explain preference choices clearly and avoid implying knowledge you do not have. Segmentation controls the audience for a send; personalization controls how the message varies within that audience.
