Emails delivered
The number of sent emails accepted by receiving mail systems, commonly calculated as sent messages minus recorded bounces.
Emails delivered is a delivery count, not an inbox-placement count. Receiving systems can accept an email and subsequently place it in an inbox, a spam folder, or another location. Providers commonly report delivery by subtracting recorded bounces from sent emails.
If a campaign sends 1,000 messages and records 20 bounces, it reports 980 delivered emails under that definition. Dividing 980 by 1,000 and multiplying by 100 gives a delivery rate of 98%. This does not mean 98% of recipients read the email.
Use the same reporting window when comparing sent and delivered figures because delayed bounces can change the totals. Deliverability concerns reaching the inbox; email opens describe tracked activity after delivery. These are separate questions.
