Emails sent
The number of email messages a sending provider reports sending during a campaign or time period.
Emails sent counts messages dispatched by an email provider according to its reporting rules. It differs from the number of contacts on a list: unsubscribed, suppressed, or excluded contacts should not be part of a campaign’s sending audience.
For example, a publication may have 1,200 contact records but send an edition to 1,000 subscribed recipients. The campaign’s sent count is 1,000. If 20 messages then bounce, its delivered count is commonly reported as 980.
Sent does not mean accepted by the receiving server, placed in the inbox, or read. Check whether the provider counts queued messages, attempted deliveries, or completed sends, especially while a campaign is still processing.
