Community management

The ongoing work of supporting conversations, responding to people, and maintaining participation standards in a community.

Community management includes answering questions, welcoming participants, addressing problems, and applying moderation rules. It can happen in social comments, a dedicated group, or newsletter replies. The goal is a useful environment in which people understand how to participate.

A newsletter writer might collect recurring reader questions, answer them in a monthly edition, and explain how submissions are selected. In a discussion group, the same writer may set rules against spam and clarify how disagreements are handled.

Community management is not simply replying to increase an engagement count. Helpful responses, predictable standards, and appropriate boundaries matter even when they do not produce visible growth. Set a response rhythm that can be maintained.
